Original release on Retinascan.de (Retinascan ‎– RE 086 ). After a year or so of absence, Phoenelai has come back and hit Retinascan hard with a marvelous 3inch EP called tiny arc and now "My Deluxe Color Box", an album that shows Richard Meyer relaxed like rarely before, delivering bright shiny constructions of noise. When we before gave him the title a "master of static", he has in the past few years achieved liquifying his constructions, which makes them almost interact with the listener. "My Deluxe Color Box" also marks the end of the DVD series by Retinascan, which started three years ago with a release by John Kannenberg, and circumstance made it possible that John kindly agreed to provide extended artwork to Phoenelai's release once more. What he achieves with his trademark re-samples is not less than a perfect optical representation of Phoenelai's ambient work, complex, multidimensional, and at the same time a monolithic beauty. Certainly a respectful finish for this remarkable series!
